Microphone not working? Check these browser settings

A short checklist for microphone permissions, connected headsets, and preparing your browser before an lcl.live voice call.

If the other person cannot hear you, check the simplest things first. A connected headset, a mute switch, or a denied permission can stop a conversation before it begins.

Check the microphone itself

Make sure your headset is connected and its physical mute switch is off. If you use Bluetooth, check that the headset is connected to the device running the call, rather than a different phone or computer.

Try the microphone in your device’s sound settings or a recording app. If that test has no sound either, resolve the device issue before returning to the browser.

Review the browser’s permission

Allow microphone access for lcl.live. If you previously denied it, check the site’s permission settings and change the microphone setting. For Chrome’s current controls, see Google’s microphone-permission help.

Your operating system may also have a microphone permission for the browser. Check that setting if the website is allowed but the browser still cannot use the microphone. Menu names vary by device and browser version.

Return to the call deliberately

After changing permissions, you may need to reopen the page. Tell the other person first because reloading can interrupt a call. If the room has expired, create a new call and share the new link.

Look at the microphone status on the call page. Being ready to use the microphone is different from being connected to the other participant; check the main call status too.

For an upcoming appointment, test your equipment beforehand and keep the booking email handy. Read the browser-call guide if you need a reminder of the joining steps.
